Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 6000-010G in 18k White Gold Grey Sunburst Dial

Few watches have had a greater impact on dress watch design than the Patek Philippe Calatrava. Debuting in 1932, the model distilled watchmaking to its purest form, prioritizing harmony, proportion, and restraint over excess. More than ninety years later, those same principles continue to define the collection.

Introduced in the early 2000s, the Ref. 6000 marked a refreshing departure from the conventional Calatrava formula. Rather than relying solely on minimalist design, Patek Philippe created a more technical and visually engaging watch, distinguished by its peripheral date display and asymmetrical dial architecture. The result was a Calatrava that felt both contemporary and firmly rooted in traditional watchmaking.

The unique dial layout of the Ref. 6000 traces its origins to the rare Ref. 5000, introduced in 1992. That model pioneered the off-centre small-seconds display positioned at 4:30, a distinctive feature that would become the defining characteristic of this fascinating branch of the Calatrava family.

Offered here is the Ref. 6000-010G, with the “G” denoting an 18k white-gold case, and the “-10” the stunning and fresh Grey sunburst dial. The case remains in excellent condition and measures a versatile 37mm in diameter, giving the watch a modern presence while retaining the elegance expected of a Calatrava.

Turning the watch over reveals a sapphire display caseback showcasing the ultra-thin automatic calibre 240 PS C. Featuring Patek Philippe’s renowned 22k gold micro-rotor, this movement is celebrated for its refinement, reliability, and slim profile. The movement has recently been fully checked and regulated by our watchmaker and is running beautifully.

The grey soleil-finished dial is both distinctive and highly legible. A centrally mounted hand indicates the date along the outer chapter ring, while the off-centre small-seconds register adds depth and character to the design. Together, these elements create a watch that feels both technically sophisticated and unmistakably Patek Philippe.

Completing the package is the original Patek Philippe leather strap, showing light signs of wear and fitted with its original 18k white-gold Patek Philippe folding clasp.
