This is a super rare and very cool Omega Speedmaster that was most likely a gift from the Sultan of Oman.
The Sultan was a prolific watch collector and also gifter of watches, most of which were marked with the national emblem, the Khanjar dagger and crossed swords. Not only does this incredible Speedy feature the Khanjar on the case back, but also comes with an Omega archive extract confirming its delivery to Oman in 1993.
The case of this Speedmaster is strong all round, the lugs remain crisp and the Khanjar engraving is still very clear. The watch comes with both inner and outer boxes that have the Khanjar logo stamped on them. The watch comes on its original Omega steel bracelet reference 1478 with 812 endlinks. The calibre 861 movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
We believe that only 10 such watches were ordered and to date, only five or six examples have surfaced to date. This is a very important Speedmaster and we would be delighted to discuss it more with you – get in touch!
