For military watch enthusiasts, the Smiths W10 stands out as an iconic piece of British military history. Produced under a government contract from 1967 to 1970, this was the last British-made mechanical watch issued to the British forces. With a design that echoes the WWII “Dirty Dozen” era, the W10 is a study in functionality. Its 35mm steel case houses a bold black dial with crisp white numerals and a railroad minute track, accented with ample tritium lume for readability in low-light conditions.
Notably, the Smiths W10 is equipped with a hacking feature, allowing for precise synchronization—a crucial feature in military settings. The iron dial and protective cap safeguard the movement from magnetic interference, enhancing its robustness. The screw-down caseback is engraved with military codes, including a three-hand configuration designation and a serial marking indicating it was issued in 1968. Paired with a single-pass strap, this timepiece has been fully serviced and is ready for action or everyday wear.
