We always love to see a yellow gold Datejust, offering a slightly more understated presence on the wrist than a Day-Date. This particular example features a beautiful and very rare matte lemon/champagne āBuckleyā dial ā named after legendary New York dealer John Buckley, who is closely associated with these distinctive designs.
Ā
The 36mm yellow gold case remains robust, complemented by a well-defined 18k fluted bezel. The rare matte āLemonā dial is in excellent condition, featuring crisp black text and Roman numerals, perfectly matched by the original black hands.
Ā
All Buckley dials carry an additional element of rarity, though most examples encountered are white matte versions. The coloured Buckley dials are among the rarest; this ālemonā variantāresembling the tone of the ultra-rare exotic gold dials seen on hand-wound Daytona referencesāis, in our opinion, one of the finest, adding yet another dimension of rarity.
Ā
It is fitted on a lovely Bulang & Sons leather strap with a Rolex plaque pin buckle. Furthermore, the watch comes with a rare Rolex inner box, calendar card, two booklets, and a Rolex cardholder. The original guarantee paper indicates a sale in 1984.
Ā
The watch, along with its quickset movement, has been fully checked and regulated by our watchmaker.
Ā
Add a touch of summer to your collection with this Lemon Buckley!
