Cartier Gondole Ellipse Paris dial ref 67081

The Cartier Gondole Ellipse was launched in 1973 as part of the prestigious Louis Cartier Collection. This initiative by Cartier Paris aimed to revive legendary designs such as the Tank and Santos, while also introducing bold new geometric forms into serial production.

Often grouped within the broader “Gondole” family, the Ellipse is a horizontal variation of the design. While the standard Gondole typically featured a more rectangular or “TV-shaped” case, the Ellipse introduced a squared-off oval form with subtly swollen sides, contrasting with the flat top and bottom lines characteristic of the Cartier Tank.

This lovely reference 67081 is housed in an 18 kt yellow gold case measuring 26 × 23 mm, featuring a stepped bezel and a winding crown set with the signature Cartier cabochon. The dial displays the highly sought-after “Paris” signature at 6 o’clock—indicating it was sold through the legendary Place Vendôme boutique—and is classically finished with black Roman numerals and blued hands.

The watch is fitted with a leather strap and an original 18 kt yellow gold Cartier folding clasp. The manual-winding movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker and is ready to be enjoyed for many years to come.

No, it’s not a Tank. But yes—it absolutely deserves your attention. Get in touch.
