Since its introduction by Louis Cartier in 1917, the Cartier Tank has become one of the most iconic timepieces in watchmaking. Despite being more than a century old, its design remains strikingly modern and relevant today.

While traditional Tank models are known for their sharp, straight lines, the Tank Arrondie—French for “rounded”—offers a softer interpretation of the classic design. Conceived in 1976 and officially launched in 1977, the Arrondie features elegantly curved brancards that create a smooth, cushion-like profile, making it exceptionally comfortable on the wrist.

This particular example, crafted in 18-carat yellow gold, measures 30 × 22.5 mm and is presented in excellent condition.

A standout feature is its rare cream-coloured guilloché dial. The finely engraved radiating pattern catches and reflects light with remarkable subtlety, adding depth and character to the watch. Further details include the classic railroad minute track, Cartier’s discreet hidden signature within the VII numeral, and the Tank’s signature black Roman numerals, all combining to create a dial that is both elegant and unmistakably Cartier.

The hand-wound movement is based on the ultra-thin mechanical Calibre 21, created by the renowned Swiss watchmaker Frédéric Piguet. With a diameter of just 20.4 mm and a thickness of 1.73 mm, it remains an impressive achievement in compact watchmaking..

Remarkably, an evolved version of this movement family remains in production today.
