The Rolex Air-King was introduced in 1945 as a conceived as a tribute to the pilots of the British Royal Air Force who served during the Second World War. Conceived by Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf, it formed part of the brand’s “Air” series of watches. While the other models gradually disappeared from the catalogue, the Air-King endured, becoming one of Rolex’s longest-running and most beloved collections.
Presented here is the rather uncommon Reference 5700. Unlike the vast majority of Air-King models, the Reference 5700 features a date complication. Together with its Rolesor sibling, the Reference 5701, it remains the only vintage Air-King to offer this practical feature, making it a particularly interesting reference for collectors.
The 34 mm Oyster case remains in excellent condition, complemented by a beautifully preserved smooth bezel. The dil is in a lovely blue hue , with a linen motif and cream coloured lume plots, so nice ! To complete the look, the watch is paired with a matching Bulang and Sons leather strap that suits its understated character perfectly.
Looking for a clean classic with vintage soul and everyday wearability? This Air-King might just be your next wingman—don’t miss your chance to strap in.
