The Rolex Datejust is one of those watches that needs very little introduction. Introduced in 1945, it became one of Rolex’s defining models, combining the Oyster case, Perpetual self-winding movement and practical date display in a design that has remained remarkably timeless.
Here we have a rarer Ref. 16000, a classic 36 mm Datejust from the transitional period between vintage and modern Rolex. It retains the charm of the plexiglass crystal and traditional proportions, while introducing Rolex’s quick-set date movement — a lovely combination of old-school looks and improved everyday practicality.
The watch features a smooth bezel and a classic 36 mm Oyster case, giving it a particularly clean and understated appearance.
The silver soleil dial is wonderfully serene, with crisp black printing, elegant hour markers and beautifully aged cream-coloured lume. As the light moves across the dial, the soleil finish gives it just enough character without ever becoming flashy.
It is fitted with a Rolex Jubilee bracelet, Ref. 62150H, with 555 end links and an “E”-stamped clasp in nice condition .
The watch has been fully serviced by our watchmaker and is ready for many more years of wrist time.
