Introduced in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date is Rolex’s ultimate flagship timepiece. Produced exclusively in precious metals, it quickly became known as “The President” thanks to its association with world leaders and influential figures. It also made watchmaking history as the first wristwatch to display both the date and the day of the week fully spelled out on the dial.
Offered here is a classic ref. 1803 in 18k yellow gold. The watch features a well-preserved 36 mm case with a crisp fluted bezel, complemented by a beautifully understated white pie-pan dial with a soft matte finish. The dial features black text, gold baton hour markers and cream-coloured lume plots, giving it a wonderfully warm vintage character. The hands are fitted with later Luminova.
The day disc is in English, while inside beats Rolex’s renowned calibre 1556 with its traditional non-quickset, or “slow-set”, day and date mechanism. The movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker and is ready for many more years of reliable enjoyment.
The watch has been paired with one of our Bulang & Sons leather straps and fitted with our pin buckle.
