Rolex Oyster Perpetual “Bubble Back” Silver Dial in steel ref. 2764

This early Rolex Oyster Perpetual reference 2764 was introduced in the late 1930s and features a distinctive domed case back, designed to accommodate one of Rolex’s early automatic movements.

Often referred to as “ovetti” (little eggs) in Italy, these watches are an underrated vintage gem on the wrist—full of charm and character. And while the 32mm size might sound modest, they actually wear larger thanks to the thicker, more pronounced case back.

The case is in excellent condition, featuring hooded lugs, single-sided lug holes, and a smooth bezel—clean and well-preserved throughout.

The dial is a silver, no-lume execution with simple hour markers, a small seconds subdial at six o’clock, and crisp black printed “chronomètre” text below the handset. The leaf hands are also without lume, keeping the look balanced and period-correct.
