The Rolex reference 6222 is an exceptionally rare vintage model produced during the early 1950s, approximately between 1952 and 1954. It belongs to an important transitional period in Rolex history, when the brand was refining the combination of its patented waterproof Oyster case with increasingly precise and reliable hand-wound movements.
Among the most interesting variations of the reference 6222 are the examples produced for the T. Eaton Company, the renowned Canadian department store. These watches were presented to employees in recognition of 25 years of service and featured a highly distinctive dial configuration, where the traditional hour markers were replaced by the words “1/4 Century Club” — a charming and unusual detail that gives these watches a unique place within vintage Rolex collecting.
This particular example features a lovely 34mm Oyster case with a smooth bezel and an attractive honeycomb-textured dial. The dial has developed a beautifully sympathetic patina across the markers and features an applied Rolex logo together with a simple “Swiss” designation at 6 o’clock. Elegant leaf style hour and minute hands are paired with a blued central seconds hand, perfectly complementing the warm character of the watch.
This charming early Rolex has been fully serviced by our watchmaker and is fitted with a lovely Bulang & Sons leather strap, ready to be worn and appreciated for many years to come.
